It's another arrest for DMX. But this one has a bit of a twist to it. His lawyer says the rapper was picked up in Miami on a warrant for failing to attend a court hearing in Phoenix. So why didn't he show up for court in Arizona? The lawyer says instead of going to court in Phoenix, DMX wanted to check himself into a Miami hospital with the intent of going into a rehab facility. Of course, those plans have been scuttled by the arrest. A Phoenix judge issued the arrest warrant for DMX earlier this week after he failed to show up for a pre-trial conference for a drug case. He faces four counts of possessing drug paraphernalia and one count of possession of marijuana. It's one of several cases DMX is facing in Phoenix, including several animal cruelty and drug possession counts.
It isn't just family and friends who are having trouble coping with the death of comedian Bernie Mac. Some of those who worked with the comedian are struggling to deal with the aftermath of his passing a week ago tomorrow. One of the projects he was working on before he died was in the upcoming sequel of the animated movie "Madagascar." Bernie Mac voices the lion Zuba, the father of a lion who is voiced by fellow comedian Ben Stiller. Jeffrey Katzenberg is the head of DreamWorks Animation SKG, which is doing the film. And he says Bernie Mac "brought so much heart and soul" to the production. He previewed footage from the film for reporters the other day. He says the film's producers are "working with his creative contribution" to the movie, hoping it will be a fitting tribute to his legacy. Katzenberg says animation on the film will continue for another month and additional production will take another couple of months -- with the film due in theaters on November 7th. Bernie Mac also co-stars in "Soul Men," along with Isaac Hayes. Hayes died this past Sunday, one day after Benie Mac lost his battle with pneumonia.
Can this marriage be saved? In the case of Shaquille and Shaunie O'Neal, the answer is: maybe. The wife of the NBA star says the two are on the verge of working out their issues -- so much so that they plan to call time-out on their divorce proceedings. She spoke about her personal life after calling reporters together to launch her new Web site. As for their divorce, she tells The Associated Press that lately, neither she nor Shaq could come up with a good reason for splitting in the first place. Shaq seemed to think he had reasons when he filed for divorce in September, 2007. Shaq's divorce attorney didn't immediately return a phone message left at his office, seeking comment on whether the divorce papers were going to be pulled. The couple had been married nearly five years before the papers were filed. O'Neal currently plays for the Phoenix Suns, after playing during his NBA career with the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat.
