Sophie Okonedo says she helped keep it real for "The Secret Life of Bees" -- at least when it came to the kitchen scenes. There are several scenes that are played out in the kitchen and she says when it came to the cooking, she was the one responsible for churning out all the grub. She says she "made all the things" you see in the various scenes, even though not all of them ended up in the movie. While working over a hot stove was OK with her, she wasn't crazy about doing her death scene, which was shot in water. She says that was simply: "cold, cold, cold" -- "like freezing cold."
It was once his home and sanctuary. But now, Michael Jackson is letting go of the Neverland ranch. The singer has given up title to the property, transferring the deed to a company that he has partial control over. Under terms of a grant deed on the ranch, the new owner is an entity called the Sycamore Valley Ranch Company LLC. A person who knows about the transaction, but who isn't authorized to speak on the record about it, says the company is a joint venture between Jackson and a company that bailed out Jackson earlier this year by buying his loan after the singer went into default.
Remember when Aretha Franklin got upset because Beyonce referred to Tina Turner as a "queen" of music, too? Maybe it was more than just pride or jealousy behind her hissy fit, at least if you go by what Rolling Stone is saying. The music magazine says Franklin is number one on its list of the top 100 Greatest Singers of All Time, as chosen by a group of musicians, music writers and music industry insiders. Coming in second is Ray Charles, followed by Elvis Presley and Sam Cooke. Number five is John Lennon. Others making the top-10 include Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder and James Brown. And bringing up the rear on the list at number 100: Mary J. Blige.
